Firefighters were alerted after a horse got a window stuck round its neck on Sunday.
The animal had poked its head through an open window at the stable in Hamberlins Lane, Northchurch, but ripped the frame from the wall when it pulled its head back.
Workers at Hamberlins Farm called the emergency services when the horse became agitated and firefighters discovered the animal in its stable with the 5ft by 2ft metal frame round its head.
A vet was called in to sedate the horse and the frame could then be lifted from its head without causing any harm.
