TWO pals have been raising cash for a theatre company that opens up the stage to people from all walks of life.
Christina Baker, 49, and Isabel McCabe, 40, who met while working at Berkhamsted firm Prologic, have been presented the Fundraiser of the Month Award for their work in aid of Chickenshed.
They raked in more than £2,000 for the cause by hosting a hog roast party, complete with raffle, auction, tombola and a lucky dip in September.
It was such a hit that the fundraising duo are now organising a Christmas cocktail party for December and a beach party in May.
The pair decided to give something back after mum-of-one Christina, of Bullbeggars Lane, Berkhamsted, took time out from her job as a product director.
Isabel still works at Prologic as a professional services director – she spends weekdays in Berkhamsted before returning to her home in Glasgow at weekends.
Christina said: “I have been supporting Chickenshed for over 20 years. I have always felt I have wanted to do something to raise money and raise awareness.
“I thought now was the time to take up the challenge.”
The friends will run the London Marathon together next year to bring in even more cash.
The Chickenshed, a charity organisation based in North London, works on the basis that everyone should be included regardless of their background, age, race or ability. It has been running for 37 years and relies on the help of individuals to raise funds to keep it going.
Every month a Fundraiser of the Mouth Award is presented to one of its supporters.
