A COUPLE whose daughter was cared for by a children’s hospice are putting on a fun day to raise cash for the good cause.

It will be the second fundraiser that Daniel Kerr and Samantha Charles-Kerr have organised for Keech Hospice Care.

Their new-born daughter Lexi was transferred to the hospice shortly after she was born on September 2 last year after complications meant the little one would not survive.

She lived for just 19 precious days, which were made special by the hospice because new parents Danny and Samantha because were able to stay with Lexi and do ‘normal’ things like feed her, bathe her and change their daughter.

Since the devastating loss, the parents raised more than £4,500 for the hospice through a quiz night in March.

Danny said: “We were a family never expecting to use a hospice but if it wasn’t there a lot of families would be on their own to deal with grief and the most difficult times. We want to raise money to help other families going through what we have been through.”

The fun day, which is open to the whole community in a bid to raise as much money as possible, will be held at Hemel Hempstead’s Cavendish School in Warners End Road on Saturday, September 1 from 11am to 3pm .

It is sponsored by CES Electrical and will include a 5-a-side football tournament, bouncy castles, go kart racing, music from Radio Dacorum, a barbecue, stalls and lots more. The attractions have been provided by many local businesses.

Football fans can sign up their team for the competition via Facebook page www.facebook.com/#!/lexi.keech.3 or email danny.kerr@hotmail.co.uk
