HEMEL Rovers progressed to the final of the West Herts Senior Cup after winning 3-0 at SWR Doors.

Misfortune struck early on in the game for Doors when indecision between the goalkeeper and a defender resulted in a headed own goal after only twelve seconds.

The home side pressed for a leveller as the half went on, and Rovers keeper Barry Hills had to be on his toes to keep out a snap shot from six yards.

Doors continued to push forward but the visitors broke away quickly and Paul Hanafan was tripped in the penalty area.

The Hemel man had no problem in dispatching the resulting penalty to double his side’s advantage.

The game hit a quiet patch with few chances either end, until a header by Tom Porter landed at the feet of Curtis Donaldson who volleyed home to make sure of Rovers’ place in the final.

In the other semi-final, Tring Athletic A visited Park Street but ended up on the wrong end of a 6-0 scoreline.

Elsewhere, Gadebridge FC narrowly missed out on a Webster Cup semi-final as they lost 3-2 at Oxhey Wanderers, despite a Lewis Crowys brace.

On league duty, Kings Sports went down 3-0 at Wellington Arms and Hemel Rovers Reserves lost 1-4 at home to AFC Storm.Josh Bromfield netted Rovers’ consolation effort.
