START the festive season early with a trip to the Court Theatre in Tring to see Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol.
Technically challenging, with some wonderful carols, and a fantastic cast of more than 30 playing 60 characters, this favourite Christmas story is guaranteed to uplift the spirits.
It’s Christmas Eve, exactly seven years after the death of Scrooge’s business partner Jacob Marley.
Scrooge has a reputation as a greedy and stingy businessman without compassion or kindness and Marley’s ghost pays him a visit to warn him to change his ways.
Three additional ghosts then appear before him each showing him his past, present and potentially terrible future.
Scrooge wakes on Christmas morning a changed man, promising to treat everyone with consideration and generosity.
His new reputation is as a person who embodies the spirit of Christmas.
The play has moments of darkness, despair and sadness but the story is one of awakening that brings with it elation, happiness and optimism.
Dan Clucas stars as Bob Cratchet, William Darby as Tiny Tim, Colin Hubbocks as Christmas Future and Mike Code as Ebenezer Scrooge.
Tring Festival Company presents A Christmas Carol at the Court Theatre, Tring from Tuesday, November 22 to Saturday, November 26 at 8pm with a Saturday 2.30pm matinee.
