Record: A target to reach 75 per cent of patients within eight minutes has been met by the ambulance service.

Chiefs at the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAS) are celebrating the achievement which saw crews reach 76.9 per cent of the most urgent calls within eight minutes over the last month, the best result since April.

EEAS chief executive Hayden Newton said: “This is fantastic news.

“It is incredibly gratifying to know that a lot of hard work by crews, area managers and our operational performance improvement team is really paying off.

“But most of all that our patients are seeing the benefit.”

A target has also been set to reach 95 per cent of urgent patietns with 19 minutes of a call being made, which was narrowly missed in September by just 0.2 per cent.

Mr Newton added: “As with the eight minute performance I am confident we will see the benefit over the coming months.”
