A pub quiz night to raise money for a cancer charity raised a total of £370.

The charity fundraiser at the White Hart, High Street, was organised by Jade Gentry of Trebellan Drive, who is collecting sponsorship to climb Mount Kilimanjaro next year in aid of the Christie charitable fund.

The quiz has pushed 24-year-old Jade nearer to her £2,400 target which will be matched by her employer, Barclays.

The drive was started after a Barclays employee from near Manchester, Elise Roberts, died from malignant melanoma in October 2010, aged only 37. She had been fundraising for the Christie which had helped her during her treatment.

Jade said: “I wanted to help the cause as much as I can.

“The quiz night went really well, lots of people came along to support me despite the cold weather. I am really pleased with the money raised as it takes my personal total up to £950.”

Although Jade plans to take a Christmas break from her fundraising, she has more plans in the pipeline for the new year.

These include a football tournament in conjunction with Hemel Hempstead Town FC, running the London Marathon and of course, the Kilimanjaro climb.
