The XC hosted the Vans Concrete Carnival at the weekend – the grand finale to the Vans European Bowl Series.

Competitors arrived from all over Europe, with a good attendance from France and Denmark.

There was also a heavy representation from the UK’s finest skateboarders including X-Games medallist Sam Beckett, who went on to take first place and the £2,000 prize money in the sponsored competition.

Beckett finished ahead of runner-up Alex Halford, from Nottingham, and Denmark’s Dannie Carlsson who finished in third.

Beckett spends most of his time in California competing in events like the X-Games and the Dew Tour and he flew home just to skate in the competition, complete with jet lag.

Elsewhere, the masters competition was won by Mark Munson from Colchester, while Gadebridge youngster Kieran Waterton, 10, won the unsponsored event.

Jesse Thomas and James Haney were second and third, respectively, with Kieran’s older brother Callum Waterton taking fourth.
