The Tring Hockey Club men’s first team took a point away against Oxford, although they were disappointed to draw after leading the game 3-1.

Sam Payne took the scoring honours with a hat-trick.

The men’s second XI, meanwhile, picked up a valuable 1-0 win against table topping Milton Keynes.

After some incredible saves by Tring keeper Jon Brewer had kept his side in the contest, Chris Slade netted the only goal of the game to hand Tring the points.

The men’s 3s also played a Milton Keynes team, and recorded 1-1 draw – picking up their first point of the season in the process.

Elsewhere, the vets team produced their best performance of the campaign so far as they defeated St Albans 2-1.

Tring weathered the early St. Albans storm, and then took the lead through Ben Holman in the 25th minute.

Shortly after half-time Tom Elliott robbed a defender on the 25-yard line, strode into the D and slammed the ball past the keeper to wrap up the win,

It was not such good news for the ladies’ first team, however, as they suffered their first defeat of the season in a 2-0 loss to Stevenage.

The ladies 2s also had a day to forget, losing 14-0 to league leaders Saffron Walden, despite putting in plenty of effort.
