Amersham Town 1
 Kings Langley 6

Kings Langley sent out an early warning signal to their MSSML Division One rivals with a crushing victory over Amersham Town.

Amersham took the lead shortly after half-time, but Kings responded in emphatic style with six goals to blast their hosts out of sight.

Kings dominated the first 40 minutes as their passing game set up a torrent of chances, only for them to be denied by impressive Town keeper Carl Morley.

Sam Warrell, Nathan Pooley, Craig Lynskey and Evan Connolly had shots saved, while Liam James, Connolly and Warrell were guilty of glaring misses.

Encouraged by this, Town finished the half on a high, when Stuart Bryant fired over and Ricci Putnam brought the best out of Dan Rice.

Almost inevitably, the hosts went ahead in the second minute of the second half when Shane Thomas eluded the defence and slotted home.

Clearly stung by this, Kings responded and Lynskey raced through before beating the keeper and defender from a narrow angle.

A Warrell free-kick saw Callum Adebiyi’s header blocked by the keeper, but James prodded home the loose ball, before a flowing move found Shaun Owens on the right, and he finished confidently to make it 3-1.

With the flood gates now open, Lynskey’s cross was deftly moved on by Connolly for Gary Coyle to flick the ball inside the post in some style, before Carter was introduced from the bench.

Having already scored twice this season in similar circumstances, he went one better, firing in a 20 yard missile with his first touch after 45 seconds.

Lynskey completed the scoring and a sparkling team performance in the last minute, following another good move involving Carter and Coyle.
