Leverstock Green Tennis Club is holding an open day on Sunday to encourage new players to get on board.

Guests can have a look around the club, and new members can benefit from a 20 per cent discount if they join on the day.

There will be free introductory sessions for adults from 10am to noon, before children aged eight and above can get involved in the junior sessions from 2pm.

And the club is hoping that their recent successes on the court will encourage new players to sign up.

It has been a tremendous season for the Leverstock Green ladies, who stormed to the Watford and District Ladies Doubles League Division Two title.

The ladies began the season with two convincing wins before losing out 6-3 to both Riverside and Chorleywood.

After this setback, however, the side got back to winning ways and triumphed in all but one of their remaining eight matches to take top spot in the league and gain promotion to Division One.

Meanwhile, Leverstock Green hosted an LTA Grade 5 Mini Open Tournament over the Easter holidays.

The semi-finals featured three Levy players – Ciaran OGorman, Cole Seggery and Joe Batten – and Seggery eventually took the title with a 10-7 win against Batchwwood’s Aakash Kapur.

The girls’ final was an exciting contest, with Green’s Evie Hood beating team-mate Jemma Stone 10-8.

The plate final was a family affair, with James Isaacs edging out brother William 11-9.
