RUNNERS were blessed with fine weather for an annual run that raises money for the upkeep of a voluntary-led village sports club.
The 20th annual Aldbury run saw 120 people jog 5.3 miles from the Aldbury Sports Club through Ashridge and back again on Sunday.
They managed to raise about £700 to go towards the running costs of the voluntary-led club.
Organiser Steve Newland said: “This year it was sponsored by both The Greyhound and The Valiant Trooper pubs, which gave away meals for two to the winners. We had runners from across the county and beyond. It all went smoothly.”
First place was taken by Steve Roberts from Handy Cross running club, who did it in 33m 43s minutes, second was Owen Burne of Bearbrook Runners at 34m 29s and Gareth Craft of Tring Running Club came third with a time of 34m 38s.
Gazette reporter David O’Neill shaved a cool 12 minutes off his time from last year and clocked in at 44m 6s.
Gazette photographer Dave Satchel, who has completed the race countless times, finished the cross country challenge in 52m 59s minutes while his daughter Alice Bennett, 24, got round in 48m 4s minutes.
