Leverstock Green 2 Hemel Hempstead Town 3
Hemel Town put their league worries to one side on as they edged past local rivals Leverstock Green to book their place in the St Mary’s Cup final.
Following a heavy downpour of rain during the day, the young Hemel side launched an early torrent of pressure on the Levy Green net and took the lead as Adiel Mannion struck with just three minutes on the clock.
But the lead didn’t last for long – Green hit back five minutes later through a fine long-range strike from Ben Butler, and Steve Heath’s side were unlucky not to take a 2-1 lead as they saw an effort rebound away to safety off a combination of the post and bar.
It was Hemel who went into half-time with the lead, however, as Marquin Smith netted – and the Tudors extended their advantage after an hour through Ryan Scott.
Levy responded three minutes later through Louis West to set up a grandstand finale, but the Tudors held on to their advantage to book their place in the final against Oxhey Jets on May 7.
Hemel’s attention now turns to tonight’s hugely important league clash with Oxford City at Vauxhall Road.
