Northchurch 4 Tring Bell Titans 0

NORTHCHURCH saved arguably their best performance of the season for last as they thumped Tring Bell Titans to take the Aylesbury League Division Four title.

The first 20 minutes were evenly contested and it took a stroke of luck for Northchurch to make the breakthrough.

A cross from the byline from Matt Tucker took a deflection and found a gap between the keeper and the near post to open the scoring.

And 15 minutes later, the lead was doubled as influential midfielder Simon Howlett created a chance for Mark Hobley to fire home.

The Northchurch defence were being as stubborn as always – limiting the chances for the Tring attack – with keeper Tom Calder tested only once in the first 45 minutes.

The second half followed a similar pattern as Northchurch remained in total control, closing out the game with two more goals.

Hobley claimed his second of the game as he was left unmarked at a corner to slam in his 22nd goal of the season.

Soon afterwards, more good work from Northchurch player-manager Howlett resulted in him ghosting past three defenders and pulling the ball across goal for second half substitute Stuart Dickinson to slot home and wrap up the points and the league title.
