A COUPLE raised thousands of pounds for a children’s hospice that helped them care for their little one in her final days.
Daniel Kerr, 26, and Samantha Charles-Kerr, 25, hosted a quiz night after being impressed by support provided by staff at Keech Hospice Care.
Their new-born daughter Lexi was transferred to the hospice shortly after she was born on September 2 last year after complications meant the youngster would not survive.
Daniel, of Northend, Hemel Hempstead, said: “Keech was just amazing for us. All the staff were lovely and very friendly. It looked like a home, it didn’t look like a hospital.
“The hospice has a bedroom for parents upstairs so we stayed at the hospice the whole time Lexi was there. We did what normal families do – we fed her, bathed her and changed her, all the things you couldn’t do at the hospital. At the hospice we were able to be a family.”
The quiz night, held in Watford, raised £4,673 for the good cause.
The total included cash raised through a collection tin put on display at Bennetts End shop TJ’s.
