Camelot 25-19 Harpenden

CAMELOT put in a good performance as they beat Harpenden at Home on Saturday.

After a strong start from the hosts, Camelot centre Daniel O’Brien made a successful kick giving the Home side a 3-point lead just three minutes into the match.

Camelot worked their way back into the opposition 22 and earned a scrum five metres from the tryline. The forwards drove the opposition backwards and the ball was quickly recycled out to O’Brien who darted through a gap to score a try, which he also converted to extend the lead to 10-0.

The hosts continued to press and launched a perfect catch and drive move from a lineout, allowing prop Matt Kears to crashed over the line.

Harpenden responded from the restart and launched an attack before breaking round the defence to score in the corner and narrow the deficit to 15-5 .

Camelot soon extended the lead again as the ball was spun quickly out wide to wing Carl Buckingham, pictured, who sprinted through across the line to score a try in the corner

And Camelot’s dominance continued in the second half. The ball was passed out wide to Buckingham, and he went over for his second try of the match, which stretched the hosts’ lead to 25-5.

But the home side then appeared to relax and lose concentration, as Harpenden broke through to score a converted try, which narrowed the score to 25-12 after 25 minutes of the half.

Soon afterwards, Harpenden won a penalty outside the home side’s 22 when the referee penalised Camelot wing forward Charlie Richards and issued him with a yellow card for handling in a ruck.

This reduced Camelot to 14 men and the visitors took advantage to score a converted try and narrow the score further to 25-19 with less than 10 minutes remaining.

However, Camelot held their discipline with 14 men for the rest of the game and repelled further attacks before driving the opposition back shortly before the final whistle blew.
