SO far Matthew Loddy has overdosed on painkillers, been to hospital three times and suffered from an infection to a blister in his left foot – and he’s only on his 40th marathon.

The boss of Framework Foundation, Berkhamsted, is going to have run 100 by the time he finishes with the London Marathon on Wednesday, April 22.

He began his marathon-a-day journey to the capital from Lagos in Portugal on Saturday, January 14, and has just passed Sarria – which is on the Pilgrim’s Way in northern Spain.

Matthew, 46, who lives in Watford Road, Kings Langley, said: “It’s hard work, painful and you lose track of the days – but some of the scenery is absolutely mind-blowing.”

He has an inflamed Achilles tendon in his left leg, and an infected blister in his left foot. He was hospitalised after taking 10 ibuprofen a day for the pain.

His best marathon time so far is three hours and 40 minutes.

So far, he has raised £20,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust and The Hospice of St Francis in Northchurch – but his fundraising target is a cool £100,000.
