A children’s wear donation service has been launched to help the needy.
The leaders of Kings Road Church in Berkhamsted have collected non-perishable foods from their parishioners for the past year.
It goes to The Swan Foyer in the town’s High Street – a homeless hostel for people aged 16 to 25, Big Issue sellers, and others who are in need.
Rev Ray Toms said: “We do it on the first Sunday of every month. It’s just an initiative we started, because we saw a need in Berkhamsted.
“We want to put our faith into action by helping others.
“Jesus was very clear about looking after the poor and we see that as our duty.”
Now his wife Lindsey has launched a service where people can donate things for children to be distributed to those that need them. That could be toys, clothes, disposable nappies or anything else.
Rev Toms said: “We want to be able to give away good stuff, not just our cast-offs, that would be very useful to families who cannot afford to buy things for children.”
Anyone can donate to the cause – ring the church on 01442 864393 to arrange a time to drop something off or do it during the church’s Sunday service at 10.30am.
